The challenge

Building on the success of their leadership programme our client recognised that the financial industry is going through a sustained period of significant change and many competitors are exhibiting signs of low resilience; resistance to change, fractured relationships and low levels of confidence and pride in the organisation.  Our client wanted to gain advantage by remaining energised, fully focused on achieving ambitious goals, with the courage to look beyond how we do things today.

The solution

800+ people from all departments of the bank were trained over 2 years in our modular team resilience programme. Rolled out during significant change across 4 locations required both face to face and digital delivery. It’s outputs allowed them to “fundamental change the way in which they work together and enabled them to build a people-driven and client-focused model for the future”.

“I have seen a much stronger self-awareness from my team members that have been through the resilience training. A growing willingness to tackle head on difficult issues and growing recognition that life is full of compromises and negotiations. The key aspect of the training has been the strength analysis and the growing appreciation that it takes different types of people to make a great team. It has been a “Damascene” conversion for some of them! ”

What did leaders like you say about their experience:

“ We were awarded ‘Gold’ status this year in the Mind 2017/18 Workplace Wellbeing Index awards. ‘Gold’ is given to those employers who have successfully embedded mental health into their policies and practices, demonstrating a long-term and in-depth commitment to staff mental health. Our two strongest areas from the Index report both reflect the impact and ethos of the resilience programme around a preventative approach to maintaining mental health coupled with open dialogue”.

" The launch of the resilience programme came at a time when we needed a re-energised team, fully focused on achieving ambitious goals, with the courage to look beyond how we do things today. I believe that the ability to provide our people with the tools that they need to deal with this level of change has been fundamental to successfully changing the way in which we work together to build a people-driven and client-focused model for the future.”

" The resilience training provides practical tools to enable employees to see mental health issues in both themselves and those around them early. The beauty of the resilience training is that the course doesn’t only give you work place skills – the tools can be used outside of the office too – they are life tools!

" The Resilience training has made a significant difference to my personal growth and development. I have learnt how to spot the onset of rumination and deal with it, reducing my stress levels. I also have a much greater appreciation that there are many things in a large organisation you can’t control, so it is better to only focus on changing what you can control. I have much better self-awareness and awareness of the impact my leadership style can have on other people who are different to me."

Working with my team who have also attended the Resilience Advantage Programme, we share a common language and are able to pull on the skills learnt, allowing us to work more closely in unison with a common understanding and mindset. "

Complete change in mindset. I'm a lot more positive. I can de-stress faster, let things go and move forward rather than ruminate all the time.”

My thinking about me; for so long I told myself I wasn't good enough and couldn't do the job. Nobody told me this, only me. My mindset has changed, the negative thoughts have shifted and I know I CAN and that I AM good enough. "
